I am pleased to announce that as of early July our congregation has reached 50% of its 2009 fundraising goal of $2,000 for the 2009 project on Blodgett Ave in the City of Downey. Thank you for your outstanding support and we look forward to your continued stewardship! The Monroy family was recently selected to be the new homeowners for this site. The Blodgett Ave project has received all its construction permits after some delays and will be volunteer friendly by mid-July. The first work day for our congregation to support this year is Saturday, August 8. We anticipate two more work days will also be scheduled before project completion in December. As we did last year, we will be partnering with Trinity Manhattan Beach and First Lutheran in Manhattan Beach. Our goal is to get 20 Lutheran volunteers to come out. We encourage volunteers who are available to come out on additional Saturdays, and during the week to sign up at http://www.habitatla.org/volunteer.asp and click on the Volunteer Up button. We will need many Lutheran and Thrivent member hours logged in at the construction site before the congregations’ commitment can be completed. Thank you again for your wonderful support! Please contact me, Bob Johnson, if you have any questions. There are new forms to be filled out before volunteering at a new site.
